Update: The date for removal of Dynamics 365 for Outlook (also known as Outlook COM Add-in) is being adjusted for your organization and will no longer be Friday December 11th. This may vary slightly across different regions and instances and you should receive communication from Microsoft with your exact date.
Microsoft has announced that the legacy Dynamics 365 for Outlook, also known as the Dynamics Outlook Plugin / COMM Add-In is now deprecated.
This has been replaced with a new improved Dynamics App. Whilst some of the functionality is not available in the new App, all functionality is available via other supported options outlined in the deprecation playbook.
Microsoft will officially no longer be supporting Dynamics 365 for Outlook, so no technical support or new software updates will be provided. Therefore, they are recommending that anyone still using the plugin should migrate to the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook to avoid potential future issues. Microsoft have provided a comprehensive Playbook to aid with the transition.
The new App is build on the Unified Interface, meaning it works across all platforms and looks a lot cleaner than the old Plugin. It is also possible to push to users centrally rather than needing installing on each machine. Find out more about the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook
